Baby Agbai 2.0 Report: 40 Weeks

I made it!

I was SO hoping for a Father's Day baby! With a full moon present Saturday night, I was having quite a few contractions so I thought it would happen but nope, no baby. Might kinda be for good reason though: I have two events today. Yep. I'll be out and about on my due date! Last time around Nia came 41 weeks and 5 days induced so I figured it'd be fine just to keep going. Follow along on Instagram and Twitter to see what the bump and I are up to . . .

On to the update:

How far along: 40 weeks

How big is baby: (from 3DPregnancy.com)
Congrats! That bun in your oven is fully baked! That’s the good news. The possibly not so stellar news: Actually giving birth on your due date is hard to do—even for overachievers. In fact, many first-time moms go up to 2 weeks past their due date (sorry!). Hopefully now that baby is cooked to perfection, he’ll come bouncing out any day now.

Other last-minute progress:

Because some of your hormones are passed into your baby’s system, your baby’s genitals (scrotum in boys and labia in girls), and even his or her breasts, may appear enlarged at birth. It can be alarming, but rest assured it’s perfectly normal.

At birth your baby has a total of 300 bones. Some of the bones will fuse together later, which is why an adult has only 206 bones. Fascinating, no?

Babies vary in size at this point, but the average full-term baby weighs around 7 to 8 pounds and hovers around 19 or 20 inches. That’s about the size of a … BABY! Of course, tell that to the mother who just delivered a 9-pound baby vaginally!

Stretch Marks: Still itchy - can't wait for relief!

Sleep: I sleep SO hard and have been taking a few more naps the past few weeks including a glorious one yesterday when our thoughtful neighbors whisked Nia away with their kids for a day of play.

Best Moment This Week: Ahhhhh I'm not allowed to share yet but will soon!

Movement: Lots of booty sticking out - thankfully, he's less posterior than he was before!

Sex of the Baby: Still boy

Food Craving: Popsicles

Belly Button In or Out: It's out and flat like it's completely disappeared; Nia asked me where it went last week!

What I Miss: Being able to move quickly

What I'm Looking Forward To:

  • Holding my baby boy - I finally started washing and putting away his clothes which makes meeting him more real! Also Nia's impatience is keeping me on my toes
    • My gym opening - granted I have to wait the full 6 weeks before working out, but my gym that was supposed to open in January finally opens this week which brings me to . . .
    • Finding a mother's helper - I've been interviewing a few candidates for a bit of help a few days a week mostly for Nia so she can stay active during the summer and not be so home-bound with me and the baby
Milestone: Getting Baby Agbai's mission-control set up in the master bedroom and his clothing washed and put away; also tackled some other organization projects around the apartment

How did you spend your Father's Day?
