Vlog: Our Crowd-Sourced Trader Joe's Haul!

Unlike when we lived in Portsmouth, NH, we're now about a 23 minute ride from our nearest Trader Joe's - before it was only 6 minutes! Since moving back to Boston this was only my second trip there so I decided to crowdsource my trip: about 30 minutes before I was set to arrive, I reached out to my Facebook friends to crowdsource their favorite items.

Here's the results shared on Facebook Live (with a bit of help from Grayson!):

Presenting: Quiana at Blogalicious 2017

This past weekend in Miami was very much needed. It was so refreshing to be around my Blogalicious family, and I have to say: Kia knocked it OUT. THE. PARK. when it came to their suite and offerings. They are so thoughtful!

Here's a little video they produced for me, and I share my thoughts on blogging conferences, attending as a newbie and why I love Blogalicious so much:

Lovebirds' Fall Family Fun

I was scrolling through pictures recently and realized there were so many fall family outings we've had that I haven't yet put into posts on the blog so I thought it would be fun just to share a few here.

11th Annual Portsmouth Fairy House Tour

Nia's Kindergarten class made this fairy house

Apple Picking at Applecrest Farm

While waiting in line for the infamous cider donuts I kept seeing people stare at Grayson in his stroller. I pulled back the canopy and realized he had eaten the entire ear of corn we gave him - husk and all! Needless to say that was a fun diaper the next day O_o

A few of my favorite moments in this quick video:

Topsfield Fair

Those of you who are long-time readers know my obsession with the Ohio State Fair so it's no surprise that I couldn't help but compare the two. The Ohio State Fair wins due to layout (the Topsfield Fair has too much packed into a tight space), but the Topsfield Fair comes close for its classic selection of rides (they even had bumper cars!).

Soccer's also been a big part of our fall with Tuesday/Saturday practice and games. It's our last week of the season and while I've shared a few pics on Instagram a featured post is coming.

Stay tuned for a yummy fall post coming up next . . .

What have been your family's favorite activities this fall? I seriously can't get enough of just looking at the leaves - it is so gorgeous here!

My Top 5 Moments From Blogalicious 2014 #BeGreatB6

We got back last night from our trip to San Antonio for Blogalicious and while I'm still processing the amazing experience we had both as a blogging conference for myself and a family vacation, here's a quick rundown of my top 5 moments before my full recap goes live:

1) Hearing from Derreck Kayongo, the charismatic founder of the Global Soap Project; this moment at the end of his opening keynote was everything:

2) Leading the Community Conversation with one of my favorite bloggers Jennifer of Baby Making Machine:

3) Mario Armstrong's Master Class knocked it out the park again! (Click here for my mini-testimonial video about the impact it had on my brand after hearing him speak at Blogalicious 2012.)

4) Connecting with bloggers IRL - like I always say, Blogalicious feels like a family reunion to me!

5) The fact that Blogalicious doubled as a fantastic family vacation was icing on the cake! We had an AMAZING time in San Antonio:

Now I'm off for a bit of reality including continued unpacking from our move to New Hampshire and getting ready to head up to Vermont this weekend with my sisters for our business retreat, but I promise to have my detailed recap up soon!

If you just can't wait to hear more about Blogalicious 2014 check out the #BeGreatB6 hashtag across social media!

Ready to Get Fit with My Victoria's Secret Sport Bra #VSSportTester

Disclosure: I received a complimentary Victoria's Secret Sport Bra and Socks via Influenster to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed are my own.

When I got pregnant with Grayson I had been in the midst of running regularly - I honestly think getting back on my fitness helped me get pregnant very quickly once Mr. Lovebird and I decided we were ready to try for #2 (more on that in my full birth story to come...). About the time it started cooling down here in metro-NYC a new gym opened in my neighborhood and I signed up immediately. Once I found out I was pregnant I was excited about carrying on with my fitness plan at the gym, however it kept stalling its opening. While it was originally supposed to open in January it just opened last month! I still managed to keep up a bit of fitness with hour daily walks and sometimes longer depending on what I had going on in the city. I definitely think it helped me keep to a healthy weight during my pregnancy!

The same day my gym opened I received my Victoria's Secret Sport Bra via Influenster. A sign? Perhaps! I honestly had forgotten it was coming so it was a pleasant surprise and although I was well at the end of my pregnancy I decided to don the sports bra and head to the gym. I didn't do a real workout but just took a tour and tested out a few machines:

Once I got past my due date I decided to get to walking a bit more and shot this video giving my Studio sport bra a try - there are 9 styles of Victoria's Secret Sport Bras to try for mid to high impact exercise:

What I Loved

The color - someone at VS must've known how much I love bright colors and sent me a bright melon colored sport bra! I loved how it popped from under my shirt - I get excited by bright colors and they help motivate me to work out (it's the little things!)

The fit - At first I was surprised I had received a size large bra as I don't think of myself as large-chested, but then I thought perhaps I had picked that size accounting for nursing. Regardless, I tried it on and with my pregnancy breasts and all it was a great fit! I felt comfortable yet well supported. I even found myself putting the bra on instead of my regular nursing bras I had started wearing at the end of my pregnancy

I also received VS Sport Socks (you can see them peeking out in the first picture above), and I really like their colorful, low-cut style and how they are specially designed to wick away moisture. I would've loved grippers on the bottom though as I now like to wear them around the house but am afraid of slipping on my wood floors!

Overall, I have to say I'm quite impressed with VS Sport - I wasn't aware of it previously and will now consider the line when I add to my fitness wardrobe just as soon as I get my clearance to hit the gym post-baby (I can't wait!).

Baby Agbai 2.0 Report: 22 Weeks and Pt. 2 of the Gender Reveal

Today's the day! We have a bit of news to share (listen closely to what Nia says at the end O_o) . . .

To say we are thrilled is an understatement! We found out a couple weeks ago with my sisters who came along for the reveal. Looking at the monitor I knew it was a boy even before the technician could get it out of her mouth. I immediately covered my eyes and cried so hard! Mr Lovebird was seated up by my head, put his head closed to mine and squeezed me tightly. Along with my sisters we all had a festive-celebration in that teeny tiny room! My sister Ariane said she got all tingly, and it felt like Christmas - that's very accurate!

We then told Nia last Saturday morning with the doll and book reveal. It was important to me to find an anatomically correct doll, and apparently Nia appreciated this: after about a couple hours with the doll she told me, "Mama, I always wanted a baby doll with a penis!" and for the next few days proceeded to tell everyone we encountered that she has a doll with a penis. However, she still insisted she wanted a baby sister. She's seemed to come around to the fact she's getting a brother now and has been so sweet with Baby Bobo (yes, that's the name she's picked for him)

Here are a few of her moments "practicing" being a big sister:

Now on to the official Baby Agbai 2.0 report . . .

Although I'm technically 23 weeks along as of yesterday I'll count this as the 22 weeks report:

How far along: 22 weeks

How big is baby: (from 3DPregnancy.com) Your baby now weighs almost a pound and measures almost 11 inches from his head to his heel, which is how the Stretch Armstrong in your uterus will be measured from here on out. Up ’til now your baby’s legs were curled tight up against her torso, so he was measured from his head to his bottom (or crown to rump) and not head to toe. This week your mini is about as long as a package of Oreos and as heavy as a large bag of tortilla chips. Who’s hungry?
Other highlights:

You’re already raising a little Einstein. Your baby’s brain is developing at a clip this week and will continue to do so until he’s five years old (so load up on the Omega 3)!

Baby’s hair is now a short, bright white crop (Billy Idol, eat your heart out!). No matter what color it will end up—red, blonde, black—all babies’ hair lacks pigment at this point.

Your baby has started growing taste buds and may be able to detect strong flavors in the amniotic fluid. If you could see inside, you might catch him sticking out his tongue for a taste and then grimacing, a sign that perhaps you should chill on the chili powder.

Stretch Marks: Still no new ones but I'm ridiculously itchy. Ughhhh!

Sleep:  I sleep like a baby! Congestion sometimes makes it hard to get to sleep, but once I'm out, I'm out

Best Moment This Week: Mr Lovebird feeling the baby kick (more on that milestone below)

Movement: Active, but still not as much as Nia was at this point; mostly reacts to loud sound and food

Sex of the Baby: BOY - and no one better say, "Oh it could still be a girl . . .I know someone who was surprised at birth!" No, no, nooooooo! We are VERY sure this is a boy. I won't post a pic of the evidence, but it's ::ahem:: clearly a boy!

Food Craving: Still loving salty and sour; Mexican food gives me LIFE!

Belly Button In or Out: Out which freaks out Lil Lovebird! She points and says, "Ewwww!"

What I Miss: Being able to breathe at night; awful congestion has commenced

What I'm Looking Forward To: Celebrating our 5th anniversary a bit early in Puerto Rico (and our maternity photo shoot) especially with this awful weather we keep having. Snow on top of snow on top of snow. I've never experienced anything like this before!

Milestone: Mr. Lovebird finally felt the baby move on Valentine's Day during our date night when he returned from his week away on business. While he was gone I told him when he got back he'd definitely feel him, and he was skeptical, but that's the same point when he felt Nia move too. Mr. Lovebird was SO excited to feel our son move while we were watching The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (I think we were the last ones to see it before it goes to DVD!). I guess I shoulda signed him up for this contraption. Oh and shout out to our church for having Parents' Night Out on Valentine's Day. Somehow these nights always come when I'm about to lose my mind Uka's in route from his week-long business trips, and we can meet up and go out straightaway plus Nia loves hanging out with her church buddies and the awesome staff. What a blessing!

Oh and to go back to the quiz in Pt 1: 6 of the 10 questions pointed towards boy! Mr. Lovebird thinks the biggest dead giveaway is the difference in how I'm carrying this time around.

P.S. I'm away at Toy Fair today and tomorrow so follow along on Instagram and Twitter where I'll be sharing the latest scoop on all the fun!

2013: Transition Accomplished!

A certain someone home on winter break has been commandeering the laptop, so I'm finally logging on to post the final results of my transition to natural!

I had originally planned to take 2 years to transition via extensions but decided to cut it a year short last month after seeing the progress my hair has made. I've come a long way!

Here's a few snapshots of my hair this year:

This was last month getting my last extensions taken down, remaining relaxed hair cut out and my natural hair blown dry, pressed (edges) and flat ironed:

I'm very thankful to Reggie and his team at The Hair Lounge that the health of my hair was maintained especially my edges. I've seen so many women post-extensions that have no hairline to speak of and this was definitely a concern of mine. Hooray for edges!

Here's a video of two natural styles provided by The Hair Lounge and by Romel at Blow-Out (formerly Image is Everything) - I reviewed both salons here:

Thank you for following along on my hair journey, and I look forward to experimenting with more styles and techniques throughout 2014!

Lovebirds' Summer Beauty Review: BB Cream Comparison Vlog

Has it cooled down where you live? It definitely has here, and I'm so thankful especially since my skin looks like an oil spill happened when the weather heats up (speaking of hot check out this hilarious NSF rant about the recent heat wave)!

Anyway, today I'm reviewing Garnier's BB Cream which also promises to help reduce shine, and I compare it to the other BB creams I've tried as well as show you how I do my "under 5-minute face."

I'm taking a different approach to this month's episode of Hi Virginia!
