Happy 6th Birthday, Virginia!

What a weekend! We celebrated Nia turning 6 with a superhero pool party and one-upped last year by not dealing with a BBQ and just ordered pizza instead (her idea!).  The weather looked a bit iffy at first dipping quite a bit from the 90 degree temperatures we had during the week, but in the end it turned out gorgeous. And yes, if you're keeping track we're 6 for 6

A few highlights...

A HUGE shout out to BJs for Nia's cake: she was adamant about it being a superhero cake (no cupcakes allowed!) and while the sample they showed had only Batman they told us they'd see what they could do to incorporate Spiderman. Nia loved how it turned out and it tasted good too!

Love this shot my sister Ariane captured my sister Lauren, Nia and our cousins!
The day before we made our first family visit to Funtown Splashtown and while it we got rained out after 5 hours there it was still a very full, fun day. Last year we were at Water Country so I guess we officially have a tradition now!

A fuzzy attempt at an "ussie" while Nia focuses on driving
It was so special to have my sisters up from NYC for the weekend and both Nia and Grayson soaked up the attention. This year Nia's birthday coincided with Sail Portsmouth's tall ships coming into town so after her party my sisters joined me and the kids next door to the pool for a tour of the Oliver Hazard Perry:

Next up for Nia? Winding down summer with her final camp of the season: a STEM robotics program (we'll see if it beats horse camp which was her favorite so far!) followed by getting ready for 1st grade...

Love my Nia!

P.S. A little tip for the "goodie bags:" this year I went with making one big goodie bag that the kids got to pick a superhero-themed prize from to take home. It was quick and easy!
