An (Early) Night Around the Campfire with Wayfair

When I shared this exciting news three weeks ago today one of the first things that came to mind was making memories with my kids especially in our new backyard. Growing up in Columbus, Ohio I have fond memories of my large backyard and hours spent playing there with my family. I'm looking forward to my children now having a similar experience! There's an existing fire pit section of our patio and I've been thinking about a fun way to (safely!) introduce my children to it. When Wayfair challenged me to come up with an idea board for my family's night around the campfire it was easy to find ideas perfect for young kids on their website.

Here's what I came up with for my 2 and 6 year old to have a playful and safe first time campfire experience in our new home:

My kids are all over the place so I decided to give them options between sitting on mini-Adirondack chairs and floor cushions with the cutest camp-themed lumbar pillows to support their little backs. I could also picture them getting a kick out of a play tent and running around the grass to take a shot at glow-in-the-dark ladder toss (I had no clue that existed!). The skewers are more for me and Uka since we can't quite get the kids on board with eating marshmallows, but we may give hot dogs a try.

Now if only this storm moving up the East Coast will pass through so we can get to roasting our marshmallows...

Have you ever had a campfire with your family? Any fun tips or traditions to share?
