Kicking Off Summer at XFinity's Day of Awesome

Today officially marks one week down of summer and last weekend I kicked off the season at XFinity's Day of Awesome. We've been an XFinity household for years, and I'm always amazed at their latest updates that help my family manage technology and stay safe. At their new store at Legacy Place, associate Laura took me through a 45 minute overview and of course had plenty of coffee and snacks.

Here's what I was most excited to learn about at Day of Awesome...

XFinity Apps

This is where I have the most catching up to do! During the school year my kids don't get screen time apart from school assignments on school nights so it's imperative that summer doesn't become a free-for-all. Thankfully there are 3 key apps that keep everything in check:

xFi - This app is EVERYTHING! Working together with xFinity Gateway's super fast Wifi my favorite feature is how it gives you access to view and control every device accessing your internet connection. Say it's dinner-time: you can pause WiFi connection access to your kids' devices during that time so you can enjoy mealtime together.

Stream - With as much traveling as my family does, this app is the one that will keep us connected to our favorite shoes on the go. Stream gives customers access to more than 200 channels outside the home, download TV shows or On Demand programs so that you can stay entertained when you’re offline. Between flight delays and road trips, Stream will help us get through it all!

XFinity Internet

Fast, reliable WiFi is a must for most households and for the past 3 years we've used the xFi Advanced Gateway which can deliver 1G speeds over WiFi in the home in addition to xFi Pods, which are a powerful mesh WiFi solution that extend reliable WiFi coverage to hard-to-reach areas. Outside the home, Xfinity Internet customers also have access to more than 19 million WiFi hotspots, so they can stay connected on the go at no additional cost.

XFinity Mobile

This is the newest development specifically for existing XFinity Internet customers bringing the reliability of the XFinity network with the over 19 million hotspots nationwide. Customers can purchase the latest phones at their local XFinity store (or bring their own). Plus the addition of tablets and wearables are rolling out too with amazing offers - when I was at Day of Awesome the trade-in value was up to a $250 gift card for your old phone!

X1

The X1 TV platform gives you access to all your apps with a voice remote - something my son is obsessed with! And options for 4K TVs now include Women's World Cup programming as well as continued access to the largest 4K library that aggregates 4K programming from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and more (as long as the viewer as a 4K TV and a 4K box from Xfinity).

Beyond these developments, I was thrilled to get to experience the new XFinity store in and of itself. Mine is located in Legacy Place - one of my favorite Boston-metro shopping centers and one small perk that's a fave? The in-table charging pads! As often as I'm over there that in and of itself is ideal for popping in to get a charge when I'm running errands there (plus the staff is very friendly!).

Thank you XFinity for keeping my family well-connected and secure this summer!
