Life with Nia: 15 Months

Our Lil Love Bird was sick over the weekend (separate post to follow), and I completely forgot until Saturday afternoon that it was her 15 month birthday!

A new location for the monthly photo!
We ended up having an impromptu celebration with my aunt and her family who were in town visiting for my cousin's Veteran's Day Parade performance with his high school. My aunt and two of her three sons all have November birthdays (one of my cousin's birthdays was on Friday and the other on Saturday) so my sister Ariane stopped by Make My Cake to pick up some cupcakes, I made stovetop popcorn and Mr. Love Bird picked up some apple cider. It was a fun celebration!

Love this!

Yay for blowing out candles (Nia actually helped!)

I have no idea what's wrong with Nia; silly baby!
Here's the official update:
  • Toddler's Weight: Since we went to the dr. for her sick visit they weighed her and confirmed she's 21 lbs, 8oz
  • Toddler's Height: The dr. didn't measure her at her sick visit, but we'll be back this week for her 15 month appointment
  • What size of clothing does toddler wear? Nia is comfortably in 18 months clothing and can wear 24 months pants (long legs like daddy!)
  • Any milestones toddler reached during the month:
    • Nia is talking constantly and her vocabulary surprises us; she repeats after us and is becoming easier to understand daily
    • She is using the potty off and on and is good about communicating with us when she wants to go
    • Nia can climb everything and get down easily, but still scares me sometimes when she does it especially getting on and off our bed
    • What are your thoughts about the past month? Where did it go?! I can't believe the holidays are upon us.
    The birthday girl!

    • What was toddler's routine? Daylight Savings messed up Nia's sleeping schedule but we'll get back to it soon I'm sure. Sickness didn't help either. Oh well. Everything is going ok. Nia's getting even better at entertaining herself throughout the day and has a lot of "projects" as she goes around the apartment exploring different things. It's so cute to see her be busy!
    • Reflect about the highlights of the month:
      • Nia got a new passport photo for her Nigerian passport (you can see her American passport photo here):
When I look at this I see a big girl ::tears::
    • Did any big changes occur?
      •  Just Daylight Savings
      • Eating is getting better but nursing increased drastically during Nia's sickness which was expected. It sent my milkflow into overdrive and looking forward to it adjusting back down.
    • What are toddler's favorites - toy, food, person, etc...
      •  Baba's still her favorite toy, but a new one is on the way (thanks to my mom and dad!). Slightly different but close enough so we can give old Baba a bath while she has the new one.

      Eating her oatmeal
      • Her favorite foods are still fruits and veggies, but now she also love bacon. She saw us eating it one day and asked for it and turns out she can't get enough of it! Not exactly healthy, but we only eat it once every couple months so I think it's ok.
    • What I'm looking forward to? {this is a new question} I'm looking forward to celebrating the holidays with Nia. No Santa Claus this year (see last year's pic), but we will be taking in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade from my sister's office. It should be fun! I was concerned about taking her in the cold but watching it from the office is an opportunity that suddenly opened up so it will work out much better for us. We'll see the balloons get blown up the night before along CPW.
    Let the holidays begin!
