Celebrating Youth Soccer Month with "Devious Maids" Ana Ortiz

Disclosure: I received a promotional item to facilitate this blog post; all opinions expressed are my own.

As schools are starting this week in our area I'm reflecting on all the fun activities Nia was involved in this summer including soccer. I played growing up and she took right to it much earlier than I did! When I learned that "Devious Maids" star Ana Ortiz had partnered with the Active Family Project to kick off September's Youth Soccer Month I was excited to learn more especially as I see our family being a soccer family for years to come.

I was introduced to the Active Family Project over a year ago and I really like how they encourage families to get outside and play together! For Youth Soccer Month Ana Ortiz, actress, fellow soccer mom and celebrity spokeswoman, is encouraging families to support bringing soccer to under-served communities by liking and commenting on their Facebook page for donations now through September 30.

Watching Nia play soccer brings back memories of what it was like for me playing in elementary school. Team sports are so important as well as being active to maintain health. And what's great about soccer is that all it requires is a ball! In a year of the World Cup it's fantastic to see so many kids getting introduced to the sport and realizing just how universal the love for soccer is.
