Celebrating 2016 with a First Day Hike

We started 2016 as a family with what I hope is a new tradition: a First Day Hike. I mentioned it a couple posts back and came across it on the NH Parks & Recreation website. As with many events that I quickly add to my calendar, I tend to overcommit double-triple book and harbor such lofty ambitions of plans with my family. It doesn't mean things always come to fruition, but when New Year's morning came and the weather was pretty mild (especially without whipping wind), I figured we were good to go.
