Our Morning at Portsmouth's African Burying Ground

As we depart today for our family's mini-reunion in the Smoky Mountains, I wanted to share an important event that Grayson and I attended earlier this week here in Portsmouth - as I mentioned during my recent vlog that day started out crazed but thankfully it turned around. A few weeks ago when I learned of the 1st anniversary celebration of the African Burying Ground that was taking place I knew it was something I'd want to attend with Grayson after dropping Nia off at school. We almost didn't make it, but in the end we arrived just in time, and it was well worth it.

Continuing Our Swimming Journey with SwimWays

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by SwimWays as part of an Activation for Influence Central. I received products to facilitate my review.

With school out next month, we're gearing up for the summer and scheduling our activities. One of the most important activities will be swimming lessons. It's a life skill that I'm glad my children are learning especially as we live on the coast and frequent beaches and pools. This Saturday, May 21 is National Learn to Swim Day and while Grayson's already in spring lessons at our indoor pool, Nia will re-start her lessons this summer when our community offers free lessons to residents of all ages.

A Few Things Making Me Smile (& a Winner!)

Happy Monday! It's a little chilly and windy here today after a stellar Saturday in the 70s - we were rockin' shorts ya'll, but today we have on polar fleece. Womp, womp

Despite this, here are a few things making me smile today...

New workout clothes - thank you Mr. Lovebird:

My Kingergartner Pianist

We started Nia in piano lessons when she was three years old and now at nearly six I wanted to share a bit of an update on her progress...

Win It: Raffi's New "Owl Singalong" Album & 4 Tickets to His May 22 Show!

Disclosure: I received samples to facilitate this review; all opinions expressed are my own.

Music plays an important role in our home: we have my childhood piano, and Nia's been taking lessons since she was 3 years old, and Grayson's in his first semester of Music Together loves it.

How to Have an Epic Mother's Day Weekend

This is my 6th Mother's Day and each year the day after my feed is flooded with disappointment from fellow moms. I've been there and have written about it before, and of course motherhood is not just about this one Hallmark? holiday, but who wants to be left out?

Airplane Mode

We got back at 2a.m. Saturday from our spring break trip, and it was a last minute hiatus that I so needed. Mr. Lovebird instructed there was to be no sharing on social media during our trip ("No Twittix," as he calls it!), and we didn't even tell our family until we were en route to our connecting flight.
